Welcome to this web site which contains details of the ferries that operated on the Firth of Forth on the route was called the Queensferry Passage. The ferries operated between North Queensferry and South Queensferry.

There is a small graveyard in North Queensferry, St James Chapel called "Sailers Cemetery". It dates back to when the Chapel was built in the 14th century.

One of the grave stones relates to Andrew Turnbull who was a boatman on the Queensferry Passage. Andrew died in 1874.

Head Stone

The inscription reads:-

" Erected In Memory Of
Andrew Turnbull Seaman

For Fifty Years a Boatman

On The Queensferry Passage

Who Died On 2nd September 1874

Aged 74

John His Third Son Was Drowned

26th December 1845 Aged 13 Years

Simon and James Died In Infancy

Elizabeth Moncur(?) Wife of Andrew Turnbull

Died 30th December 1882"
